The Clionian Sorority was formed in 1934, after the Clionian Society and Sigma Beta Epsilon merged.
The Clionian Society was originally Pi Delta Sigma. Pi Delta Sigma was started in 1906 and ran until 1928, when its name was changed to the Clionian Society.
Sigma Beta Epsilon formed out of Sigma Beta Sigma, a sorority that was formed in 1928 and ran until 1931, when it changed its name to Sigma Beta Epsilon, running under that moniker for only two years before merging with the Clionian Society.
The Clionian Sorority ran from 1934 to 1953, later becoming Phi Kappa Pi, when they were forced to sever their ties.
