Phi Mu Alpha
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia of America is the oldest national professional fraternity in music. The group came to Potsdam on December 6, 1958, through the founding of the Theta Iota Chapter.
Phi Mu Alpha was, and still is, a professional music fraternity for men that aims for advancements in the cause of music in America and the fostering of mutual welfare and brotherhood for students of music.
Since then, they have become an active part of the community and campus. In winter during their early years, they would hold an all-campus sing-a-long, but their most popular offering was their German Band, later surpassed by their men's chorus.
Today, they participate in numerous events such as Relay For Life, Sorority Sing and pancake breakfast benefits. The group is known for singing for patients at Canton-Potsdam Hospital and at area nursing homes.
